COMPANY NEWS:

The New Year is a time of much excitement and anticipation for Wolverhampton based architects and town planners Tweedale. The company has secured for 2008 many local important regeneration projects in Wolverhampton, Dudley, Bilston and Coseley and hope that the input that these and many other projects have will assist in the generation of visible positive momentum and investment into our area.

During 2007, Tweedale increased its staff numbers to place itself at the forefront of architectural design and town planning expertise in the region. Although the company work nationwide, for a whole range of clients from private individuals to blue chip nationals, we take pride in providing a professional, knowledgable service for each and every client with project Directors taking an active role in all commissions.

2007 saw our involvement in the Hillcrest School and Community College International Performing Arts Academy which was a major investment for the Governors and Dudley Property Services, which will be followed by further investment in 2008 to bring enhanced Science facilities.

Fortress Interlocks Ltd have been at the forefront in the development, design and manufacture of safety interlocking systems for industry and we have designed their new prestigious office and assembly building involving curved façade and glazed atrium. The project has been supported by Business Link.

The portfolio for 2008 includes Fortmere Properties regeneration of the derelict Triangle site at the important A449 Penn Road island providing housing, retail, hotel and conference facilities with the retention of the 1930’s Scala Cinema frontage. The planning process has been particularly challenging on a very restricted site, however, the Planning Authority, including its Conservation section are particularly pleased with the outcome combining a contemporary design yet maintaining important traditional elements.

We are also very proud to be associated with local brewery Marston’s Inns and Taverns both architecturally and with our town planning section in bringing to the marketplace new exciting concepts together with the updating of existing premises to meet today’s needs.

2008 should see the redevelopment of the former Bilston Art College taking place, providing contemporary apartments with below ground car parking. An important landmark site in Bilston finally with a use!

Recent framework agreement commissions have been secured with Wolverhampton University and Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust, all cementing our position of being a leading local and national provider of Architectural and Town Planning Services.

In February 2008, Tweedale were successfully reviewed and re-accredited to ISO9001:2000 for the provision of Project Management Services.

Roger Tweedale has announced his retirement from his consultancy role with Tweedale Ltd as of 31st March 2008.
