The brief called for a building to pull together facilities for sixth formers under one roof in an open plan, non-institutional building. The building comprises teaching rooms, staff and interview accommodation at first floor with open plan space at ground floor which can be sub-divided into six equal study areas. The pyramidal building form, with a central light shaft, allows good quality daylight into the deep plan ground floor area. The first floor plan is rotated 45 degrees to ground floor to give interplay of internal spaces and exiting elevational forms. The elevation, in red brick and tiles fits its conservation area context.
