This £2,500,000 million pound project, (net of VAT and fees), completed September 2000, involved the installation of 2no. International Standard sand based hockey pitches which replaced an existing redgra athletics track and ash tennis court on land occupied by Stourport High School. The 10 lane straight 8 lane IAAF Standard athletics track was reprovided on adjacent agricultural land together with new high quality Clubhouse facilities, catering for up to 200 visitors, with associated car and coach parking. The project was assisted by a £1,800,000 Lottery Award and involved thorough discussions with Sport England, Stourport High School, the local Hockey and Athletics Clubs and Wyre Forest District Council who manage the site. A recent end of project evaluation study by Sport England found the investment to be value for money and an excellent facility for the development of athletics and hockey to International Level. The scheme design allows for future expansion of the site and a feasibility study has already been completed to relocate a local semi-professional football team and squash club to the site.
