Renamed after ‘Wallis’ of Wallis, Gilbert and Partners (the original Architects of this former GEC HQ building), this Art Deco style listed building is from the same design stable as the Hoover Building. Seen as a ‘hidden gem’ of Birmingham’s architectural heritage great care was taken in the conversion of the former cellular layout to a more light and airy, modern open plan office. A first floor panelled boardroom and associated executive suite was fully replaced after a serious fire and the ground floor reception area was completely renovated in period style. The original factory buildings at the rear were totally demolished and replaced with a new 100 000 sqft, high bay warehouse with feature details to relate this to the Wallis Building whist retaining the ‘design DNA’ of the remainder of the J6 estate.
