Hotel extension tests our team’s expertise

Our technical expertise and creativity were recently tested in project that has added 18 new bedrooms plus ancillary facilities to a hotel in the centre of Bicester.

Cherwell District Council appointed Tweedale to plan the conversion of a second floor over the town’s public library into extra bedrooms for a Travelodge, knowing our team excels in finding solutions for complex projects.

The 53-room hotel was originally completed in 2015 as part of the council’s regeneration of the Franklin’s Yard area of the town, which also saw a new library facility, restaurants, retail units and office space introduced to the area.

Extension completed at Shropshire hospital

Bridgnorth Community Hospital has officially opened a new extension that will allow dementia patients much-needed space to spend with their family.

The extension to the Agnes Campbell Ward was overseen by Tweedale and consists of a 29sq m room being constructed in a yard that is bound on all four sides.

The Agnes Campbell ward is a twenty-five bedded ward and is able to accommodate patients of mixed gender and ages, however, the patients are predominately elderly and normally require a period of rehabilitation to enable them to return home.

Historic Willenhall school to become company HQ

A historic Willenhall school with an iconic clock tower has been turned into the new headquarters of Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd, which has been based in the West Midlands town for nearly 150 years.

The former Little London School on Stafford Street closed more than a decade ago but has been refurbished by Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd as part of a multi-million pound development project. The clock tower has been refurbished and protected as part of the redevelopment.

Luxury Living in Wolverhampton

Completion may still be a few months away, but the attraction of living in one of Wolverhampton’s most iconic locations is proving to be popular with homebuyers.

The former Coniston House office building at Chapel Ash, on the western gateway to Wolverhampton Ring Road, is currently being converted into 42 luxury one and two-bedroom apartments and over half the units have already been sold.

The landmark building, which will be known as Belvedere Residence, is being transformed by Dudley-based developer, Blackacres Limited, with Tweedale responsible for the innovative design.

Asparagus Point – the journey so far

Construction work has recently started on a new industrial estate in Worcestershire, but for Tweedale, the journey to get to this point began in 2011.

That’s when we began working on this project after forming a new relationship with the developer, Hortons’ Estate.

Several design concepts were pursued including offices, large scale warehousing and a trade park. There was also considerable interest from individual commercial operators for bespoke buildings. Read Full Story

Official opening for new school building

A new school building, designed by Tweedale Ltd, has been officially opened by Shadow Digital Minister, Liam Byrne MP.

The £2.1million project at Brownmead Primary Academy, located on Shard End in Birmingham, will eventually provide 210 extra primary school places for local children.

Tweedale, which has a great track record in designs for the education sector, worked with Acivico and contractor, Balfour Beatty, to deliver this project, which covers 522sq m and consists of six classrooms and new toilets.

Samukeliso scoops student architecture award

A prestigious prize has been awarded to an outstanding University of Wolverhampton student, Samukeliso Mafa, for her high-quality architectural design work.

The prize has been awarded annually by Tweedale, in a six-year strong partnership with the university.

Samukeliso recently graduated from the BSc Hons Interior Architecture and Property Development course with a 1st Class BSc (Hons) and said receiving the Tweedale Prize for Architectural Design was the cherry on the cake.

Merlin’s is looking magic thanks to Tweedale

The former Merlin’s bar in Dudley is looking magic after it was transformed as part of a £580,000 revamp.

However, the transformation of the two listed Victorian properties on Wolverhampton Street into offices for MET Recruitment came with a few challenges for us!

Terry Reynolds, managing director at Tweedale,  said: “The buildings fall within Dudley Town Centre Conservation Area and are locally listed so we needed to preserve the heritage features while creating modern offices.

Model Student Takes Part in Exhibition

Diana Grigorie studies architecture part time at Birmingham City University alongside her work at our Wolverhampton offices and we’re thrilled to hear that, at the end of her first year, Diana was not only allocated a first class grade, but her work was used in a show usually reserved for graduates.
